A Dime A Dozen

The kittens at my doorstep disappeared about a week ago. By "disappeared", I do mean disappeared. one moment they were there, and the next they vanished. Cat Mommy was still lurking around, and did so for the subsequent 2 days, so there were only 3 possibilities in my mind.
  1. Cat Mommy abandoned the kittens somewhere
  2. Kittens were stolen by another cat/animal/thing that can fit through the gates
  3. Cat Mommy moved the kittens and then forgot where she left them (-.-)

Cat mommy had become extremely clingy, rolling around the floor much and coming up close to want you to pat her. I wish I could have asked her where her kittens were. I tried following her to the hawker centre but she ended up going there for a hearty dinner. x_x i took a stroll around the neighbourhood to look for the litter, but no sign of them anywhere. Oh well, I did another take the day before they went missing. Haven't had time to post photos till now. I felt more sad than I had expected when they disappeared :( oh well. Cat mommy got tired of hanging around our compound and so she's left as well.

as for my thoughts on PROs, they shall remain as thoughts. I don't know what is in store, but all in all, God is still in control, and I couldn't have been more reminded of that. for now, i'm content being tired from blading and not studying, and looking forward to a good nights rest. I had my camera with me today as well, but didn't catch much other than a slow sunset and some hummus dips. :p

8. Lunch at Kebab Station (ECP), starting with appetizers - Hummus Dips :)

9. Sunset and a tree of character.

Hello Kitty

This post is in line with the latest MAC Hello Kitty collection. (eh pay me leh.)

So some people have been asking about those feline visitors who appeared at my door step slightly over a week ago. well they're still here, and can no longer be considering visitors. in fact, they've nicely settled in, and don't seem to have any intention of moving from their little spot next to my shoe cupboard. just 2 nights ago, my mom went into the garden for a bit, and left the door ajar. Mommy cat decided to take a stroll into the house, much to the dismay (and screaming) of my human Mom. it then sauntered (if i may use that word) out without any cajoling. it seems like we're more afraid of the cats, than they are afraid of us. talk about role reversal. -.-

anyway! the kittens have grown more fur, and all of them have finally opened their eyes and started to try to walk. actually my carporch isn't quite the best place for starting to walk. the tiled floor is just too slippery (to the credit of frequent washing by Wali) and most of the time the kitties just slide around. :P max cute.

so taking the advice of Diana/Christine/Pearlyn/Others, i haven't fed them a single time, but neither have i touched them a single time. Mommy cat goes out in the evenings and at night in search for food. I guess it's quite convenient for her, the food centre being located about 2 mins stroll away. but it must also be quite tough, with 4 kitties fighting to suckle non stop. Mommy cat has also grown to recognise us (i think) and opens her eyes from her slumber when we open the door, and then returns to her cat nap (HAHA!) in a wink, with a knowingness that we are such scaredee-cats (HAHA! x2) oh well.

1. The kittens suckling, like forever. When do they stop?

2. Mommy, quite a beauty herself.

3. Kitty butts. :P

4. Sleepyheads :)

5. Melty sigh.

6. This fella was sleeping soundly despite her other siblings scrambling around, Mommy waking up at the sound of my shutter etcetc.

7. After hearing few more clicks, she finally decided to stretch a bit and wake up.

8.She also had a point to make. -.-

Feline Visitors

at 6am this morning, my mom knocked hard on my room door and started yelling. There's a cat outside our house and there are kittens! (She was yelling not out of excitement but of anxiety and fear.) so I woke up quite startled but also rather excited. the last time this happened was several years back, when we found a litter of kittens in our shoe cupboard and the mother gone. Then, we put the kittens in a little box where they were visible for the Mummy Cat to pick up when she returned.

This morning was a different sight. it had rained last night and my maid had told me she had heard the sounds of the cat(s) from the backyard area through the night. However, the feline family was found right smack in front of the main door this morning, probably because they couldn't find enough shelter at the back. Unfortunately, in the process of transporting the newborns from the back to the front, they suffered one casualty.

There were 5 newborns, and only 4 suckling. One little kitten lay motionless just a few inches from the Mummy Cat - wet and dead.

The mother cat was fiercely protective, and woke up at any sense of danger, shielding her little ones from those who walked by, and even from my camera. She stole naps in between when she thought we wern't looking, and snuggled close to her litter. She made attempts to leave to search for food, but dashed back the moment she saw anyone come close to the unprotected kittens. I had wanted to give them some food, but my Mum warned me against raising their hopes of making our front door their home.

I was out the whole day, and returned to find the feline family still on the rug in front of the main door. The dead kitten was no longer there, I think someone must have helped to dispose of it before flies started to come. When I came home, the kittens were alone. Mummy must have gone to find food.

I hope they stay warm tonight. For the time being, the rug is for them to stay. Any ideas on how to help them out without making them hang around for too long are welcome.
