voyeuristic world

it's quite freaky how connected we are. today i saw someone whose blog i read. i don't even know her, i just find her life/blog rather interesting. it's so strange having seen (in pictures) and knowing so much about a person despite her not knowing at all. your life of oblivion under the scrutiny of so many.

today i ran into the fruit juice uncle at the bus stop! it was an uncanny moment when our eyes met as he alighted the bus, an extra long moment as though he recognized me. smile. (: i saw another old uncle hobbling across the road today. i wanted to give him a hug.

how my heart ached

like liwei, i too have a soft spot for old people, both old men and old women alike. somehow their rugged faces and grey strands make them oh-so-endearing. as they shuffle through the chaos of this world, looking ever so lost and unable to catch up with the changing times, i always wish that something would make their lives better. they grumble, moan, and reminisce the forgotten years of their youth. their wrinkles speak of hardship and suffering. together with their senses, they lose their standing in the world. people disregard their words brimming with wisdom and experience. forgetful, longwinded, old fashioned. who is to say we won't be there someday? times change, we say. but as we grow up and discover how arduous this journey of life is, i can't help but really admire old people for having been there, and done that. 19 years of being a noob can't be compared to raising 44213098578321 children, making a living and fighting for survival.

today when the fruit juice uncle walked the entire hawker centre peering at anyone in black because he couldn't find the lady who ordered juice, how my heart ached.
