school this week has been...hazy. 8am-530pm days, 6 hours of Immunology lectures, very sleepy COFM lectures and slow moving PBLs. plus the added tuition commitments, i come home quite zonked from the weight of life. i imagine myself tearing my hair out at not being able to understand concepts, at being pressured to excel in all that i do.
nevertheless, i have also been very blessed this week. i started off the term thinking that this years tracks were going to be a huge bore. but i was pleasantly surprised to find that we won't be deviating too far from the study of Physiology which has never failed to fascinate me. As the immunology lectures progress, things start to fall into place in the mindmap within my head, and again i am amazed at the crazily intricate systems in our body and how every single mechanism acts to protect the functioning of the body. good thing God didn't decide to make our leukocytes like Singaporeans - these fellas in our blood fight the war till the very end, together. :p i was especially impressed when Mike Kemeny showed us a video on the mechanics of our immune system, illustrating how our coughing, fever and lethargy during infections wern't directly the effects of being infected, but rather a means of our body fighting the infection and communicating with our brain to slow down. and for that, i really couldn't be more thankful to be in this position to appreciate it all.
and then there is sj who has settled down well in his new abode (save for a rat attack :p) i'm thankful for technology, for an assurance that he's in good hands. thankful for my brother who was willing to help out with all the baggage, accomodation and shopping. :) something strange but quite beautiful came out of this as well, with yan yuan being very thoughful and giving me advice. haha. december should arrive shortly :)
my tuition experience has been going well thus far, and i realized how similar my tutee is to me. panicky and unconfident before the paper, and managing to come out fine. glad that she performed well in the recent CA2, but that also means that i've got expectations to meet in the coming end of years. but apart from that, i'm glad that we've manage up build up some rapport, so much so that she calls me Naggy, as in a noun. -.- she was really sweet to get me a Teachers' Day present too, which was a towel with my name embroided on it. :) erm, does that mean i need to buy a Childrens' Day present too? =/
been thinking about several things lately, about things, about people. interesting how dynamics have changed this time around, how incidences can blind people to the feelings of others. haha if this sounds too cryptic, it was meant to be.
as part of my I Shall Not Overwork in M2 resolution, i've completed my Pharm notes and was watching some HK serial and playing Wii just now. did i mention that my brother decided to purchase the WiiFit, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart and a 46" LCD TV all at the same time?? can't wait for my house renovation to be finally complete! and my other brother is returning from London tonight. massive Wii party. :D
and finally because i am a nerd, i shall leave you with this educational video. :) it's far from what Mike Kemeny showed us, but it'd make do. :)
